Summary:

  • The Cost Control Analyst/Accounting ClerkIII shall be responsible for reviewing and analyzing accounting records andfiscal activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with the contract.
  • Duties andResponsibilities:
  • Reviewinvoices and statements verifying information, ensuring sufficient funds havebeen obligated, and if questionable, resolving with the submitting unitdetermining accounts involved. The review will include coding transactions, andprocessing material through data processing for application in the accountingsystem.
  • Reviewsfinancial documents such as vouchers, purchase orders, work orders, andinvoices to ensure that proper cost centers are charged, that expenditures andrevenues are recorded in the proper classification, and that purchases, andother transactions are proper in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Analysisand reconciliation of computer printouts with operating unit reports(contacting units, researching causes of discrepancies and taking action toensure that accounts balance).
  • Assistsmanagers with budget preparation and monitoring. Analyzes and explainsvariances, reports on irregularities, and prepares correction action plans forbudget over-runs.
  • Providesup-to-date detailed cost accounting information for budgeting and cost controlpurposes.
  • Conformancewith requirements and technical soundness of completed work are reviewed by thesupervisor or are controlled by mechanisms built into the accounting processes.
  • This position may be designated as Mission Critical as required by the company to meet contract requirements.
  • This position may be part of an emergency management/response team as required by the company to meet contract requirements.

  • MinimumQualifications: (Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily.)
  • Accounting degree orequivalent or Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the management of financialsystems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing,and taxation.
  • Proficiency in bookkeepingprograms and related software.
  • Exceptional attention todetail and accuracy.
  • High level of integrity andtrustworthiness.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiencylevel competency in execution of complex Microsoft Office software tasksexecuting features in Excel, Access, etc. (e.g. complex pivot tables, slicers,data comparison, data merges, database creation, database revision, tablecreation, etc.).
  • Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonalskills.
  • Excellent analytical,computational and mathematical abilities.
  • Knowledge ofeconomic principles
  • Knowledge ofauditing practices and principles
