The primary role of the Maintenance Technician is to provide maintenance support to facility operations. The ability to perform work safely, meet the needs of operations, execute the maintenance program and comply with all safety codes is paramount. The Maintenance Technician must identify, troubleshoot and repair problems in mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic systems that occur in equipment and processes. He/she must be able to run tests, isolate problems, remove/replace failed components, determine failure modes by studying worn components and perform other tasks as necessary. He/she also performs preventive maintenance and upgrades to above mentioned systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, paint system, industrial forklifts, cranes, lathes, drill press, press brakes, steel shot blast unit, CNC machining centers and laser cutting machine. This position will handle maintenance service requests for repairs and improvements. Must work as a team participant along with the rest of the team. Must be mechanically inclined and be a self-starter with a high awareness for safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to work flexible schedule as determined by business needs. Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of quality, service and cost objectives. Perform various equipment maintenance functions and record in maintenance logs. Respond to service order requests and concerns in a timely manner. Identify spare parts requirements and contract outside services if required. Identify opportunities for increased reliability, improved process flow and reduced cycle time. Ability to read one-line diagrams, blueprints and schematics. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations. Keep work station, tools, work environment and equipment clean and in their proper place. Must be able to work alone, in teams and with external contractors when required. Must be able to operate industrial forklifts and scissor lifts. Participate in the Emergency Response Team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associates Technical Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience. 1-3 years’ experience in production maintenance role or equivalent vocational and technical training. Demonstrated familiarity with computers, software and 2-way radios for verbal communication. Familiarity with LOTO procedures. Ability to solder/weld.
Physical Environment Work in a shop environment where metal fabrication, welding, painting and assembly of machined parts is conducted. Exposure to high heat, high noise and vibration. Must be able to lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work at elevations above 3ft from ground level. Must be able to work on their feet 8 to 11 hours a day. Must wear protective equipment such as steel toe shoes and safety glasses.
